    Kevin D. Brown, native of New Castle and a 1986 graduate of New Castle High School, attended Ball State University and graduated in 1991 from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science at Xavier University. Kevin is the owner of Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and Knightstown. He has served as the Vice President of ICAP Board of Directors and currently holds board positions for the Foster Grandparent Program and First Apostolic Church in New Castle. His hobbies include singing, playing trumpet and piano and camping with family. Kevin and wife Cindy have two children, Evan and Olivia.

    CHRIS MAY          Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Director
    2020 President

    Chris is the Director of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and a native of Rushville, Indiana where he was involved in sports communication since his days at Rushville Consolidated High School. He was producer of 1070 The Fan’s “Dan Dakich Show” and was Sport Director at DePauw University’s WGRE while it was ranked the #1 student radio station in the country by the Princeton Review. Hired by the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in June 2009, Chris oversees the operation of the organization and their 14,000 square foot museum in New Castle. He lives in New Castle with his pit-bull rescue, Derk.

    Cara Taylor is a lifelong resident of Henry County and began her career in real estate in 2004 working in residential property management. She graduated in 2007 with a bachelors degree in Residential Property Management from Ball State University. After managing apartment communities in Indianapolis, Cara then earned her real estate sales license in 2012 and is now enjoying her true passion, which is selling real estate.

    Myra Strobel has been with The Geo Group, Inc. at the New Castle Correctional Facility since August of 2009.  She serves as the Litigation Liaison, Public Information Officer, and is a member of the Executive Team as the Warden's Assistant.  She graduated from Ball State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology and in 2008 with a Master of Public Administration degree, with a concentration in the field of Criminal Justice.

    Melissa is a 1993 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School and a 2017 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a Human Resource Specialization.  She has worked at Henry County REMC since 2006 in various positions and is now the Manager of Customer Service & Billing. She is Board Secretary for the New Castle Noon Optimist Club. Melissa and husband Donnie are life-long residents of Henry County. Melissa enjoys reading, traveling, and supporting Donnie in his tractor pulling hobby.

    Kevin was born and raised in New Castle, Indiana. He graduated from Tri Jr. Sr. High and attended Taylor University. Kevin founded Clean N Simple in 2006. He personally trains each member of the staff to meet his high standards, and prides himself on excellent customer service. Kevin serves on the Academy for Community Leadership Board. He has been a member of Henry County BNI (Business Networking International) for several years, where he was the 2017 Chapter president. He has served as a BNI Ambassador, a BNI mentor and has been on the BNI Membership Committee. 

  • Rebecca Gonya

    Co-Owner, Big O Tires

    Rebecca is a Texas native and has lived in New Castle for nearly 20 years. She co-owns New Castle Big O Tires, with her husband Chris and also assists with State Farm's marketing efforts and project management. She worked 13 years for Cox Communications in sales and service. She served on the Henry County Pregnancy Center Board and First Christian Church Board in New Castle. She was President of several parent teacher organizations including the Indiana Academy, New Castle High School, Westwood Elementary, and Mothers of Preschoolers. She and Chris have three sons: Riley, Brenden,and Joshua. She enjoys time with her family, traveling, and reading.

    Jeff describes himself as having the primary titles of Passionate Christian, Husband to Traci, and Dad to Jay & Hope. He has served as the Pastor of The Sanctuary of New Castle since 2005. An intentional developer of leaders and influencers, he enjoys all things tech.  Jeff earned a B.S. in Organizational Leadership from Urshan College, Florissant, Mo. in 2018

    Cindi is a human resources consultant with experience in training, management, recruiting, staffing and supervision, organizational development, safety, benefit plan analysis and administration. She was office manager, then Director of Administration at Greenwalt Corporation for 15 years. She founded The HR Connection, LLC. in 2006 and developed her overall business acumen working with a variety of companies. Earning her MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2006 and completed Senior Human Resource Professional (SPHR) requirements in 2007, she is also licensed for life, health and accident insurance.  She and her husband are active in their church educating new members and in music ministry.  She is a chairperson for Henry County Relay for Life.

    Vickie is a 1990 graduate of Blue River Valley High School and a 1992 graduate of Vincennes University where she earned an Associates Degree in the Paralegal/Legal Assistant program.  She has worked at First Merchants, formerly Ameriana Bank, for 24 years; working in various positions, most recently, in the Mortgage Consultant position.  Vickie has one daughter; Alyssa.  Vickie enjoys drawing, painting and watching her daughter's sporting events.

    Latina has worked at Citizens State Bank for almost 40 years, holding a variety of positions along the way. One of her favorite aspects of her job is the opportunity to actually be involved in the New Castle community. Besides being a Board Member for the New Castle-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, she serves as Treasurer for the Purdue Extension-Henry County Extension Homemaker Association, and she's been involved with numerous nonprofit organizations over the years. When Latina isn't working or volunteering, you're likely to find her at her grandchildren's sporting events or spending time with her family.

    Corey Murphy serves as the President of the New Castle - Henry County Economic Development Corporation. He is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Evansville and has successfully completed the Indiana Economic Development Course at Ball State University and is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute. Murphy serves as a board member for the Indiana Economic Development Association and is a member of the International Economic Development Council.  He resides in New Castle with his wife and three sons.

    Christy graduated from Alexandria Monroe High School and from Muncie School of Practical Nursing before she began her career in health care as an LPN. A graduate of Indiana School of Nursing Home Administration, she attended both Indiana University East and IVTC to obtain her degree as an RN. Christy was a nurse at Community Hospital in Anderson, IN and Henry County Memorial Hospital. She was Director of Nursing at two assisted living facilities and has been an administrator since 1981. In 1987 she opened Oakwood at HCMH. She returned to nursing in 1994 as a hospice nurse. Christy has worked at Heritage House of New Castle for 9 years. Married to Jack Tompkins Jr., she has four sons and a step-son. She has 15 grandchildren and a Black German Sheppard, named Yancy. Christy loves to read and spend time with her husband going to antique auctions.

    Mayor York was born in New Castle and graduated from New Castle High School.  He is married, the father of two sons, and a grandfather.  Bitten by the entrepreneurial bug Greg worked from the ground up and is currently the owner/manager of a local vault company.  An avid sports enthusiast, he can frequently be seen at IU home games as well as local sporting events.  He is an active member of the Foursquare Gospel Church.  As Mayor, Greg has plans to fix what's broken, encourage dedicated employees, and build on the community's strengths.

    I would like to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of our Chamber of Commerce. My name is Shaun DuFault, and I have been a resident of New Castle since November 2017.  I celebrated in May, twenty years of marriage to my wife, Vicki. We have six children ranging in age from sixteen to two. I am excited to be given the challenge to fill the shoes of Missy Modesitt. This will be a huge endeavor, but with your assistance the transition will be fairly smooth.  In order to accomplish such a task, I would like the opportunity to interact and answer questions you may have of me or the Chamber. Please feel free to call and set an appointment convenient for you, or simply stop by the office and say “hello."     Ruth is a native of New Castle and a 1984 graduate of New Castle High School, She attended Ball State University and graduated with a degree in Communication Science with an emphasis in Broadcast News. She worked in the broadcast industry for several years as a reporter, on-air talent and copywriter. Her first job was at then local radio station WCTW/WMDH in New Castle.  Having served in both for-profit and non-profit operations in broadcasting, sales, environmental and post-secondary education, Ruth now works closely with the Chamber director, committees and members on Chamber events, marketing and office administration. Ruth loves hiking, swimming, travel, music, cooking, theater and design.
